Foundational Economics

Foundational economics principles will play a significant role in informing the policy we want to see for energy and climate in Tasmania.

The foundational economy includes; health, care, education, housing, utilities and food supply. These basic goods and services are a driver of wellbeing for people and when managed fairly can have greater economic benefits for people, places and planet.

The fluxus campaign will be showcasing promising case study projects of foundational and circular economics in action. Shining light on promising social innovation for fair economics in our community to leverage what is politically possible.

“The Foundational Economy is an evolving approach to socio-economic development which focuses on the provision of everyday universal basics like food, housing, health services and transport within planetary limits. It offers a distinctive socio-economic analysis of the mess we are in and a politics of improvement from where we are at. The political approach varies in what to do and how to do it according to analysis of time and place, and foundational analysis has developed over time through internal debate and response to external criticism”   https://foundationaleconomy.com
