Support FloatMo

Australian fishing icon Steve “Starlo” Starling says Tassal’s Okehampton Bay salmon farming proposal is a “disaster waiting to happen” and now AFL star Nick Reiwoldt has joined the campaign too!

On Sunday 18 June the local Tassie community are holding a huge, peaceful flotilla and rally on Hobart’s waterfront. It's called #FloatMo and it'll send a clear message to our Premier that Tassal’s plan to spread industrial salmon farming up our pristine East Coast must be stopped. Their industrial fish farm would be bad for our precious marine environment, bad for fishing, bad for our tourism brand and terrible for endangered whales.

If you can make it please RSVP here. Otherwise show your support now by sending a message of support to Nick and Starlo.

Dear Nick and Starlo, being in Sydney I can’t join you on 18th June, but I’ll be there in spirit. God Bless you and the local Tassie community for holding the flotilla and I pray that your Premier will get the message … there’s too much at stake, too much to lose. GOOD LUCK ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Its time large companies netters and long linners and particularly governments started listening to the people and not the almighty dollar.

Dear Steve and Nick THANK YOU for helping stop Tassal’s evil greedy plan to increase salmon farming up Tasmania’s pristine East Coast. My family and I love you for your time and efforts and having beautiful hearts that respect and care for our environment, who care for the endangered whales and who care for all fish species. Good Luck for Sunday 18th June we are behind you.

It does not make sense that such a fish farm proposal will not damage Okehampton bay and the surrounding area, including the marine protection area in Maria Island. Longer term if this goes ahead, we will see Tassal shift into Mercury passage and the shell fish leases used for fin fish farming with the resulting pollution. Tassal need to understand that their reputation and sales are at risk with a move to the East Coast and the public backlash and ongoing scrutiny of their business.

Please protect our marine environments! We cannot just focus on making money at any cost, we need our different environments to survive so we may survive! Please listen to these experienced people when they say over development of Salmon fishing along the Tasmanian coast is detramental!!

Keep up the pressure. We don’t need their salmon if it pollutes the ocean.

Tell this darn company who is called Tassle

Their farming practices are too much of a hassle

That they can’t fish Mother Nature out of house and home

To get their mitts off it and leave Tasmania’s waters alone

    Best wishes Fiona Parks.

please understand that the world cannot maintain its integrity without our help and there is a point of no return. I do not know where this is but more importantly no one does. this is so wrong.
