Support FloatMo

Australian fishing icon Steve “Starlo” Starling says Tassal’s Okehampton Bay salmon farming proposal is a “disaster waiting to happen” and now AFL star Nick Reiwoldt has joined the campaign too!

On Sunday 18 June the local Tassie community are holding a huge, peaceful flotilla and rally on Hobart’s waterfront. It's called #FloatMo and it'll send a clear message to our Premier that Tassal’s plan to spread industrial salmon farming up our pristine East Coast must be stopped. Their industrial fish farm would be bad for our precious marine environment, bad for fishing, bad for our tourism brand and terrible for endangered whales.

If you can make it please RSVP here. Otherwise show your support now by sending a message of support to Nick and Starlo.

We support Nick and Starlo’s Float called FloatMo as a protest against the expansion of Tassal’s industrial fish farming in Tasmania.

This practice is environmentally destructive and must be stopped.

Yours sincerely Carole and Rolf Tilling-Rekort

I fully support this movement to stop the spread of unsafe and eco-unfriendly conduct in Tassal’s approach to salmon farming. I lived in Tas, I love the prisitine environment, also the incredible rich and “unspoilt” natural heritage. Other travellers from all over the world are drawn to visit because of these very attractions – they are disappearing from other world sites, due to pollution and poor environmental protection. All the more reason to cherish and protect the waters of Tasmania. Call Tassal to account to clean up their act, and ensure legislation is enacted to prevent other corrporations or individuals from setting up similar practices. These unique coastal regions must be protected from explotation and flow-on damage to precious ecological niches and species.

Protecting diversity on Our planet helps protect ourselves as human species. Industrial salmon farming is obviously harmful for the marine environment. I add my endorsement!

I most fully support your attempts to keep Fishermen within the bounds of reasonable, safe behaviour around Tasmania. As I am a vegetarian, I do not support Fishing, even when well done, anywhere – and especially around Australian waters, of course.

Go for it. We do not want such pollution in such pristine places. Also not to the same extent in areas they yet want to develop farms just as polluting anywhere.
