Executive Officer - Environment Tasmania

Environment Tasmania is offering an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation and to make a difference. The role will deliver leadership in the organisation and grow relationships and funding opportunities. You will be an important face of the organisation as we embark on our new strategic direction and address the critical environmental issues in Tasmania including climate action.

Up to four days a week is available to the right person with appropriate pay and conditions.

The role is initially offered for one year with the potential for extension.

 

WHO WE ARE:

Environment Tasmania’s mission is to conserve, connect and inspire stewardship of lutruwita/Tasmania’s natural landscape. We have a proud record of effective campaigning. We are currently building our role as the Conservation Council leader for Tasmania. Our ambition is to build the Tasmanian Environmental Movement and build relationships across all environmental organisations in Tasmania to increase our collective influence and community relationships.

You are a motivated, hard-working and passionate person. You care about the natural world and the challenges it faces. You work well with others and can deliver leadership and cooperation as required. You can work successfully without immediate direction and deliver agreed strategies. You can recognise opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

1). Lead Environment Tasmania’s new strategy and climate campaign, ensuring they align with the organisations vision and goals.

2). Managing environmental movement stakeholder relationships – members, other organisations working in the space.

3). Building relationships with key decision makers and influencers in Tasmania and the broader community

4). Ensure Environment Tasmania’s long term financial viability including overseeing fundraising and exploring new opportunities.

5). Provide appropriate support and guidance to Environment Tasmania campaigners.

6). Work with the board to develop strategic plans and to promote the work of Environment Tasmania.

 

Selection Criteria

  • Proven leadership success at managerial or Executive Director level is preferable.

  • Strong understanding of current and emerging environmental issues in Tasmania. An understanding of climate and energy policies is desirable.

  • Proven success with building engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Excellent negotiation, people management and organisational skills.

  • Applications should address the relevant criteria and provide a current resume.
