Business Manager


Term: 12 months, part-time 2 days a week (15.2 hours) with potential for extension
Pay: $40 - $44.99 per hour


Environment Tasmania’s mission is to conserve, connect, and inspire stewardship of lutruwita/Tasmania’s natural landscapes. We have a proud record of effective campaigning for 20 years. We are a small but tightly knit team based in Hobart and Launceston.

 

The role:

Environment Tasmania is seeking an experienced Business Manager, looking for a rewarding role with an environmental organisation that is making a real difference.

In this role, you will be working to ensure that Environment Tasmania meets its financial and legal requirements, as well as supporting staff to ensure the organisation operates as effectively as possible. You will also be responsible for developing Environment Tasmania’s new regular giving programme as well as assisting in broadening our donations and fundraising initiatives.

Environment Tasmania’s staff can work remotely or from our offices in Hobart or Launceston. Hours can be flexible but face-to-face crossover time with our team each week is essential.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing our financials as required - payables, receivables, payroll and superannuation.
  • Assisting campaign managers with identifying and applying for grants.
  • Supporting our Executive Officer in managing and maintaining our budget.
  • Responding to general enquiries received by email and mail.
  • Providing occasional administrative support to our Board members and staff.
  • Completing audit and insurance requirements.
  • Liaising with external accountants and auditors.
  • Developing and maintaining Environment Tasmania’s regular giving programme.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role, in the charitable sector, is desirable.
  • Proven experience of managing an organisation’s finances and legal responsibilities.
  • Sound knowledge of finance, reporting and budgeting processes.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Highly motivated, dedicated and show initiative.
