Environment groups remain committed to a lasting solution for forests and people

Environment Tasmania, The Australian Conservation Foundation and the Wilderness Society today reaffirmed their commitment to the Statement of Principles, and to negotiations with signatories on the implementation of the agreement.
Forestry Tasmania increases logging in IGA protected areas

A report released today by environment groups reveals that since Forestry Tasmania was paid $12.5 million to stop logging in the 572,000 hectares of forests being assessed for protection, the agency has shown no letup in the rate of logging inside these forests.

Tasmania’s peak environment body, Environment Tasmania has called for a stronger funding model for the Parks & Wildlife service, progression of marine and coastal policies, and initiatives to support sustainable agricultural landscapes in its submission to the Tasmanian government’s 2012-13 State budget.
Governments fail to deliver on Forests Agreement

Environment groups said the conservation agreement released today by the Tasmanian and Commonwealth governments did not adequately deliver the first key conservation outcome of the Tasmanian Forests Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) and urged them to end logging in these unique and important forests.

Volunteering is a wonderful way of contributing to a cause that you care about. Resources are always limited in the not-for-profit sector and so the time you offer is precious to us.

If you have specific skills that you feel you could share with us or even if you just have some spare time and feel passionate about the work we do below is a list of volunteer roles that we are seeking enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious people to help us with.

General Volunteering

Events & Display

Environment Tasmania hosts and attends a number of public events throughout the year. If you enjoy being sociable, working with people and talking to others about why the work we do is important but have limited time available to help out then this might be a great option for you to get involved.

Administrative Support & General Office Assistance

The foundation of every organisation lies in having a healthy, functioning core group of people who not only work on specific campaigns and / or project work but ensure that day-to-day requirements are met. This involves everything from delivering specific administrative support techniques through to assisting in mail outs, answering phones and filing. So whether you have specific administration experience or just want to get involved and be helpful then we would value your assistance.

Fundraising & Marketing

Another essential element of any successful organisation in this modern climate is being able to successfully market & express your message through a range of media and being able to creatively generate funds to support the core business of the organisation. So if you have skills and experience in either of these categories then we would love to hear from you.

Graphic Design

Do you have a flare for graphic design or a related field and wish to share you expertise? Or maybe you’re a recent graduate seeking to gain some work experience in a meaningful way? If you do then we would certainly value your contribution to our organisation.

Photographs / Photography Skills

Are you a budding photographer with a passion for photographing the natural beauty of Tasmania? Do you have some beautiful images being forgotten in the depths of your hard-drive that you would like to share? Well we might have a place on our website or elsewhere to display your wonderful work.

Newsletter Assistant Editor

Do you have experience in journalism or as a writer or maybe you have previous experience compiling a newsletter for an organisation? We are seeking a reliable and conscientious person with previous experience to help us compile our regular member newsletter.
