Sustainable transport options for the Walk Against Warming
Upper Florentine Valley, 12 December 2009
Please use sustainable transport when travelling to the Upper Florentine for the Walk Against Warming.
Directions, map and travel times HERE.
There are a number of sustainable transport options for you to choose from. Take a bus, carpool, or ride a bike.
TAKE A BUS
There is limited car parking space in the Upper Florentine so it will be much easier (and more climate-friendly) for as many people as possible to travel by bus.
Please note there will be some costs involved in travelling by bus. Our aim is to make this community event as accessible as possible, and we will be holding fundraising events to reduce the costs of travelling by bus. If the cost of transport will be an issue for you, please contact us and we will do our best to help in any way we can.

Buses from other Tasmanian towns
Depending on demand, we can arrange buses from other Tasmanian towns. If you would like to help arrange a bus from your town to this event please contact the Wilderness Society on 6224 1550.
CAR-POOLING
If you are traveling by car please don’t arrive with empty seats! Fill your car with friends and family. If you have spare seats, or if you are looking for a ride then head to Cool Pool. You can register online as a driver or passenger and post your ride to the event at www.coolpooltas.com.au
Please note: travel costs when carpooling should be shared by the driver and passengers. There is information about how to negotiate this on the coolpooltas website.
RIDING BICYCLES
If you want to reduce your Walk Against Warming carbon footprint to zero, then why not ride your bike. There is a bike ride planned which anyone and everyone is encouraged to join. The bike team will be leaving Hobart at lunchtime on Thursday to ensure the ride can be done at a pace which suits everyone.
Please note: there are a number of hills that you will need to ascend and descend on route to the Upper Florentine.
For more information and to register for the bike team contact Jess at Environment Tasmania by email climate@et.org or phone (03) 6224 6319.
