Stanley Burbury Theatre, UTAS - Churchill Street, Sandy Bay
The forum is a joint initiative of Climate Action Hobart, a grassroots community climate action group and Environment Tasmania, the state’s peak environment body and is supported by the UTAS Environment Collective.
The public forum will provide the community with the latest information on Tasmanian political parties’ climate change policies in the lead up to the state election.
The forum will be chaired by community leaders and will include a presentation from representatives of the Tasmanian Labor Party, Tasmanian Liberal on Climate Action Hobart’s benchmarks for Tasmanian climate change policy – Ten Steps for a Safe Climate: Tasmania ’s contribution to avoiding dangerous climate change.
Each party’s representative will make a presentation, respond to Climate Action Hobart's analysis of their climate policies, ask a question of each other and respond to open questions from the community. We anticipate there will be at least 30 minutes for audience participation.
Speakers include:
- Tasmanian Labor Party - Lisa Singh, Member for Denison, Minister assisting the Premier on Climate Change
- Tasmanian Liberal Party - Vanessa Goodwin, Member for Pembroke, Shadow Minister for Climate Change
- Tasmanian Greens - Cassy O'Connor, Member for Denison, Spokesperson for the Environment
- Tasmanian Socialist Alliance - Mel Barnes, state election candidate for Denison
