Tasmania is world famous for the unique diversity and integrity of its' natural environment. The island contains some of the world’s most remarkable wild places, landscapes, natural phenomena and wildlife, and is recognised as one of the most beautiful, clean and pristine destinations on the globe.

Environment Tasmania is a not-for-profit conservation council dedicated to the protection, conservation and rehabilitation of Tasmania's natural environment. Australia's youngest conservation council, Environment Tasmania is a peak body representing over 20 local environment groups, with collective representation of over 5000 Tasmanians.

Environment Tasmania was publicly launched in December 2006 and operated as a volunteer orgnaisation for the first 12 months. Environment Tasmania is now a staffed organisation and is housed at the 100 Elizabeth Street Building along with many other like-minded, not-for-profit groups and businesses.
